Join volunteers from Alpha Phi Omega of the University of Oregon as we tend to the Gateway to the Whilamut Natural Area of Alton Baker Park! We will be weeding wildflower beds, deterring camping and off-trail use, removing invasive plants, covering up graffiti, and generally beautifying this exceptional area of the park.
Our meeting area for this work party will be the brown informational kiosks located at the entrance to the park from the Frohnmayer Footbridge, also know as the Autzen pedestrian/bike Bridge. This bridge is located between mile post 2 and 3 of the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Bike Path. This location can be difficult to find if you have never been there, so please ensure you know where to go prior to the day of the event. Here is a link to the Ruth Bascom Bike Path Map.
If driving, please park at either the main entrance/parking lot of the park (on the West Side) or at the parking lots available North of the community garden. Once you have parked, walk South towards the Willamette river and find the North Bank Bike Path. Take this path East, until you intersect the Autzen Footpath.
If walking or biking to this event from the South (University of Oregon) find your way to the Autzen Pedestrian Footbridge and Cross it.
If coming from the North, East, or West of the location on bike or foot, please consult the map in the link below to ensure that you can find the Autzen Pedestrian Bridge from where you are coming from. Please do some personal research to ensure you understand the meeting location prior to the day of the event. Feel free to email email@example.com for any questions.
**We ask all of our volunteers to please bring a water bottle full of water to the event, as this helps us reduce our waste.
**Please wear durable, sturdy shoes, and clothing that is ok to get dirty. All tools, gloves, and instructions are provided.
