At the Urban Family Gardening workshop, participants will learn how to reduce their family food bills by growing their own healthy food on their own urban lots. They will also learn how to spend less time “working” in the garden and more time enjoying it! What and when to plant, how to get the whole family involved, growing food that kids will eat, age-appropriate garden chores, and keeping things simple are a few of the topics that will be covered.
The instructor for this workshop will be Angela André, the current farm manager for the Excelsior Restaurant's organic farm. Angela has over 30 years of experience gardening with children and had her own organic farm for twenty years. She taught for three years at the Laurel Valley Educational Farm and started the Northwest Youth Corps Youth Grow Program, a summer gardening program for kids ages 9-13.
Pre-registration is required and space is limited. The workshop costs $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Limited work trades are available. Childcare is available for $10/child. To register or for more information, call 541-687-9699 or click here for a registration form.
