Kinder Critter Costume Designer
Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience with costume design

Independent, efficient, problem-solving work style

Enthusiasm, sense of humor, flexibility, creativity

Your own workspace with appropriate equipment (sewing machine, etc.)

Ability to work with a limited materials budget with re-used as well as new materials

Knowledge of local wildlife helpful
Responsibilities:
Nearby Nature's Costume Designer will update/repair Nearby Nature's existing Kinder Critter costumes. (Click here and here for photos of some of our costumes.) These costumes are used throughout the year for both indoor and outdoor presentations. A variety of repairs/redesigns are needed depending on the costume. For example, some costumes need new lightweight wings and others need more outdoor-hardy feet. Some costumes need re-stitching and others need new more breathable/vision-friendly masks. Our costume designer will do most of this work independently outside the office, but will consult regularly with staff and volunteers who wear the costumes regarding design changes and costume improvements.
Benefits:
- Our designer will be paid as an independent contractor. Total compensation to be determined. Materials budget available.
