Designed with families in mind, but open to “kids” of all ages, each Nature Quest highlights a new and fascinating aspect of nature nearby—from creepy-crawlies that hide in the tall grass to the wonders of bird migration.
Each two hour Nature Quest includes a family-paced hike or nature adventure with lots of hands-on fun, a craft or special activity, a snack, and sometimes a visit from one of our famous costumed Kinder Critters! Past topics have included Rah Rah Rodents, Celebrate Slime, Nesting Neighbors, Wildflower Wander, Creepy Crawly Bug Safari, Beast Feast, and many others.
Most Nature Quests meet outside the Park Host Residence in Alton Baker Park, in our Learnscape, east of the park’s main parking lots and next to the Community Gardens. Occasionally we also venture to other nearby natural places -- including Amazon, Hendricks, and Tugman Parks. Parking is available in Alton Baker park for cars next to the Community Gardens and for bikes in our covered bike shelter on site.
Nature Quests are FREE for members! The cost is $5 a family for non-members. Pre-registration is requested at 541-687-9699 or by
