Share nature with children! On weekday mornings in the spring and fall, volunteer guides lead nature discovery activities, tell stories, and play games with small groups of K-6th graders on school nature walks in the Whilamut Natural Area of Alton Baker Park.
No experience is necessary. Our free training covers everything from local natural history to nature-themed storytelling to outdoor teaching techniques. Guides commit to leading one walk per week (two-three hours) for one season at a time.
Training happens in April and September (for spring and fall seasons). See Nature Guide Training Overview March 2023 to learn more about this spring’s program and please fill out a Volunteer Questionnaire today to let us know you’re interested. We will contact you soon to set up an interview/sign you up for trainings. Please email info@nearbynature.org if you have questions!
