Tips for Summer Daycamps Registration

The notes below are lengthy, but you’ll be glad you’ve read them if you plan to register for camps on the 22nd at 1 pm. See additional important information about registration at nearbynature.org/daycamps.

Creating/Updating a Registration Account:

  • If you have not previously registered your child/ren for Nearby Nature programs, you will be creating a new account in our online registration platform, Active Network, and a profile for each child you sign up for camps.
  • You can set up your online account and profile/s in advance here. Doing this will save you significant time when you register for camps. Why? You are required to answer many questions when you register (about health, emergency contacts, etc.). Once you create an account/profile, your answers to those questions are saved in the system, making future registration much quicker.
  • If you have an existing Active Network account, please update any information about your child and/or family that has changed since you last registered – new medical info, ways we can support your child, scholarship application data, emergency contacts, people allowed to pick up your child, t-shirt size, etc. To make updates, log into your account and click on My Programs. Click Edit Registration Form next to your child’s name, review/update your prior answers, and answer new required questions. If we do not have current data, we cannot ensure that your family’s needs will be met.
  • Note: Some other local non-profits, including Whole Earth Nature School, also use Active Network so you may have an account already. You can use this account to register for our programs.
  • Para registrarse en español, que no está disponible en Active, deberá completar un formulario de Google.

Scholarships:

  • Our scholarship application is embedded in our online registration form. You can apply for assistance when you create/update your child/ren’s profiles or register for camps.
  • When you check out, type ECO in the coupon code box and you will not have to pay our required deposit until after we have reviewed your application.
  • We will call or email you about your eligibility for aid. If we are able to make a financial offer that works for your family, you will receive information on how you can make a required $15 deposit/pay your discounted fees due.

Payment Methods Available:

  • You will be asked to pay a 15% deposit during registration using a CREDIT CARD, so have one ready.
  • If paying with a card is not an option or you would prefer to pay in cash, type CASH in the coupon code box at online checkout and you will not need a card. We will contact you to set up a time to take your cash payment at our office.
  • As noted above, if you are applying for scholarship aid, type ECO in the coupon code box and you will not have to pay our required deposit immediately.

Wait Lists:

  • If camps you are interested in are full, sign up on our wait lists. There may be more spaces available than Active Network shows due to issues that sometimes arise when many people are registering at once. Spaces also open as the spring and summer progress due to cancellations. We also reserve some camp spots to fill after the initial rush of registration to ensure more equity of access to our programs.

Invitation to Support Other Families

  • During registration, you will have the opportunity to sponsor a scholarship/part of a scholarship for a child to attend a summer daycamp through our Every Child Outside Fund. You will find this invitation under “Session Options.” If you have the means to support other families in our community, it would be greatly appreciated.

Other Tips for Saving Time During Registration:

Pay Balances Due Now:

  • We will not confirm your registrations and reserve the right to move your child’s registrations to waitlists if you have a balance due from prior programs at Nearby Nature.
  • To check for balances due, log in to your existing Active Network account. If you have questions about your account, or need help paying your balance online, email programs@nearbynature.org.

Purchase/Update Your Membership Now:

  • If you would like to register for camps at discounted membership rates, your membership must be current as of your child’s first camp.
  • Purchase a new or renew your existing $70/year membership so you have one less thing to do when you register.
  • If you’re not sure about your membership status, email admin@nearbynature.org.
  • Note: when you renew an existing membership, we will extend your membership forward from its current expiration date.

Review Nearby Nature’s important policies in advance:

During the online registration process, you will be asked to confirm that you have read and understand our High Heat, Air Quality Monitoring/Cancellation, Health and Safety, and Behavior Guidelines Policy. Be sure to read and confirm that they work for your family, especially with regards to cancellations/refunds/credits for high heat and poor air quality days. Doing this review in advance will save time during registration.
