Join us as we use iNaturalist to collect observations of the web of life in the Whilamut Natural Area and our Learnscape at our Bioblitz (part of the City Nature Challenge 2022)! At Nearby Nature, work with a small group and a knowledgeable leader who can help get you set up to contribute to this fun community science project. Volunteers will take photos of different plants, animals, insects, and fungi and upload them to iNaturalist for identification and a final species count. You don’t need to be a skilled naturalist to join in the fun and learning. All you need to do is take photos with your phone, a camera, or another device and upload your images to on iNaturalist. If you’re not sure what you’ve discovered, one of our expert naturalists will add a species identification to your image. Visit our Natural Neighbors Project page for info on how to set up your iNaturalist account. (Note — Even if you missed the official Bioblitz, you can participate in the Natural Neighbors project year around!) Program planned for adult participants — register HERE.
What do you need to participate in the Bioblitz?
A smartphone, handheld device, or camera for making observations
Weather-appropriate clothing – bioblitzing happens rain or shine!
