We are very excited to be adding the Whilamut Natural Area to the 35th Annual Eugene Butterfly Count! Every year the Lane County Butterfly Club counts butterflies on one day (around the 4th of July) in several natural areas in a 5 mile radius of Eugene-Springfield. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain butterfly knowledge from an expert in the field and co-founder of Nearby Nature, Sharon Blick!
Please join us on Saturday July 5th from 10am-3pm (timing will vary depending on the weather). Open to anyone interested in butterflies! Most appropriate for adults and mature youth. Please register so we can contact you if there is a delayed start due to cold or damp weather.
We will meet at Nearby Nature’s Discovery Lab (covered structure next to our yurt) in Alton Baker Park. Be prepared to walk 2-5 miles. Bring your own water, lunch, sunscreen, etc. Fee $3.00 to be paid to the Lane County Butterfly Club (if this presents a barrier, we will cover you).
