*** NOTE as of 10-14-19 we are close to full on many hikes starting between 5:30-7 pm (they go out every 10 minutes), but there is plenty of space in the 7:10, 7:20, 7:30, and 7:40 hikes. Curious about local night life? Wonder who’s tiptoeing through the treetops? Who’s crunching in the compost? If your kids like to pretend and think night creatures are cool, then they’ll love Nearby Nature’s 23rd annual Haunted Hike in Alton Baker Park!
- Go on a special night hike along a festive pumpkin-lit trail in Alton Baker Park — meet seven furry and feathered night creatures in costume, from a gigantic bat to a sneaky spider.
- Enjoy creepy crafts, fun games, tricky treats, and night critter face painting at the decorated picnic shelter before or after your hike. NEW this year, the Cascades Raptor Center will also be at the event with a display of creepy claws and wild wings!
- Support Nearby Nature by participating in raffle of goods and services donated by generous local businesses.
Each hike lasts about an hour (sign up for a specific time when you register online) and folks are encouraged to come early or stay after their scheduled hikes to enjoy the festivities. The first hike goes out at 5:30 and the last at 7:40. The event is most appropriate for pre-school through elementary-aged kids, but adults love it too!
Haunted Hike is free for Nearby Nature members and $5 per person for non-members. Groups are welcome. Pre-registration online is required and payment for the event must be made in advance. Note — please register your whole family/group under one adult name only. You do not need to register each individual.
